Speed Coaching
Get Faster. Coached by a Former International Sprinter.
Speed wins games. Work one-to-one with Will - a former Belgian international sprinter - on the acceleration, top-end speed and change-of-direction that separate players on the pitch. London-based, footballer-focused, results you can measure.
Meet Your Coach : Will Oyowe
Most footballers are trained by generalists. Will isn't one.
He represented Belgium internationally as a 400m sprinter, with a personal best of 45.88. He lined up at the 2013 World Championships in Moscow, where his 4×400m relay team finished 4th in the world - and he's a Belgian national champion, taking the indoor 200m title in 2014.
That's not a marketing line - it's where his coaching eye comes from. Will sees the mechanics of a sprint the way most coaches never learn to: how you leave the ground, where you're leaking speed, why you're a half-step late to the ball.
Now he brings that pedigree to footballers. Not generic fitness - the specific, trainable skill of getting from A to B faster than the player marking you.
How It Works
- Book your block. Choose 1-to-1 or small group and pick your slot.
- Get tested. In session one we record your baseline - real 10m and 30m sprint times and a change-of-direction test.
- Train speed properly. Six weeks of focused, football-specific coaching across acceleration, top speed and change of direction.
- See the difference. We re-test at the end, so your improvement is a number, not a feeling.
The 6-Week Speed Block
Speed isn't a mystery and it isn't fixed - it's trainable, when it's coached properly. The Speed Block is six weeks of focused one-to-one work built to make you measurably quicker on the pitch.
- 12 sessions - 2 per week, 60 minutes each
- A full baseline test in session one, written down
- Six weeks across acceleration, top-speed mechanics and change of direction
- A re-test at the end, so your improvement is a measured result
- Coaching that fits football movement - speed you can use in a match
Who it's for: academy players, semi-pro, and ambitious amateurs who want an edge. Suitable for under-18s with parental consent (see FAQ).
£600 for the full block, paid upfront. Founding cohort: the first athletes to join train at a reduced rate in exchange for a testimonial and permission to film for Athletoons — limited spots, and this rate won't return.
Small-Group Speed Sessions
Sprinters rarely train alone, and neither should footballers working on speed. In a small group of up to four, you get the same specialist coaching with training partners to push against — which is exactly how speed work is meant to be done.
- Up to 4 athletes per session
- 60 minutes
- Same acceleration, top-speed and change-of-direction focus as the 1-to-1 block
- Ideal for teammates or a few players at the same level
£25 per athlete, per session.
FAQ
Do you work with under-18s?
Yes. Will is DBS checked, and a parent or guardian completes a consent form before the first session. Sessions are structured appropriately for younger athletes, and parents are welcome to observe.
Where do sessions take place?
London and surrounding areas. Get in touch if you're unsure whether you're in range.
I'm not sure I'm "fast enough" to bother - is this for me?
Speed is trainable at every level. Whether you're chasing a scholarship or just tired of being a step behind, the block starts where you are and builds from there.
Can we train remotely?
Yes - Will offers online programming and video-based coaching for players who can't train in person. Ask about remote options.
What do I need to bring?
Football boots or trainers, water, and kit you can move in. That's it.
